GHMC to launch 4-wheeler tipper ‘Driver-cum-Owner’ scheme

In order to ensure “door to door” collection of garbage, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has decided to introduce 2,500 four-wheeler auto tippers through ‘Driver-cum-Owner’ scheme.

The GHMC has invited application from the interested candidates under the Driver-cum-Owner’ scheme. The corporation will also set up 25 modern transfer stations, besides providing two dustbins to each household. The auto tippers will be named as Swachh DC and it will cover 600-800 households. It will collect garbage from two bins from each household and shift the garbage to the transfer stations. The Swachh DCOs are likely to get approximately 25,000/- as fee from houses and are encouraged to sell recycleables. The GHMC will contribute towards the monthly loan repayment on successful collection of garbage per month.

Individuals, aged from 21 to 50 years, having a valid driver license and willing to collect door to door garbage under the Driver-cum-Owner model are eligible to apply. They should be ready to pay beneficiary contribution of 10% (for SC/ST) and 20% (other than SC/ST) towards of vehicle cost, to be taken on loan.

The GHMC will help the selected applicants in getting loan and eligible subsidy, monthly loan repayment loan, provide contribution toward EMI, allocate area for garbage collection, earmark transfer station for garbage, training, monitoring etc.,

The interested individuals can approach the Citizen Service Centers (CSC) of concerned GHMC Deputy Commissioner’s office from Thursday onwards along with the copies of Driving License, AADHAR card, Latest Passport size colour photograph, Voter ID and Residence proofs. The application forms are available in CSC at free of cost or can be downloaded from the GHMC website. (INN)
