GHMC to involve residential associations for city’s development

GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar said that the corporation was planning to involve Residential Welfare Associations for taking up various innovative schemes with them to develop the city in a more appropriate way.

In this connection, a review meeting was held with the members of Welfare Federation at GHMC Head Office on Thursday. The GHMC has already planned to deploy 2,500 auto tippers, distribution of 44 lakhs garbage bins, e-Libraries, gyms and other innovative schemes with the help of the Residential Welfare Associations. Importance will be given to the Residential Welfare Associations, especially those who are lifting the garbage. He asked the Associations to play a responsible and key role to safeguard the properties and also to take up the sanitation works in a more appropriate way.

The Commissioner said that the corporation was planning to make the GHMC a dust bin free city. He said that two dustbins would be provided to all households in the next 40 days.

Somesh Kumar said of 3,000 Residential Welfare Associations, only a few have registered themselves with the GHMC website. He appealed the Associations to register themselves at the earliest.

Additional Commissioners N. Ravi Kiran, Jayaraj Kennedy, Residential Welfare Associations Federation Members B.T. Srinivas, K.S. Sarma, Geetha, Ashwin, Radha Krishna and other officials have participated in the review meeting. (INN)
