GHMC chief directs officials to remove encroachments on nalas

GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar, along with Karwan MLA Kauser Mohiuddin, inspected Tolichowki, Golkonda and surrounding areas to check encroachments nalas and lakes.

The team also visited Hakimpet, Balkapur nala, Sha-Hathim Lake at Golkonda, Katora Houz pond areas. The Commissioner informed that the GHMC has already sanctioned nala widening works at Hakimpet nala at Tolichowki. Although the properties have been identified for land acquisition, due to some reasons, the works have not been taken up. In this connection, the Commissioner directed the concerned officials to put up the again proposals for specific sanctions to take up the works on priority basis.

The Commissioner has observed lot of unauthorized constructions are coming up in Sha-Hathim lake at Golkonda for which he has directed the Engineering and Town Planning officials to take up immediate action to curb such menace.

The team has also visited Katora Houz at Golkonda, which was used as swimming pool in the ancient times and is now in the state of neglect. The Commissioner directed the concerned officials to put up the proposals for modernization of Katora Houz for which he has sanctioned Rs. 1.25 crores. Fountain, lighting, landscaping and other modernized facilities will to be provided at the historic swimming pool.

Central Zonal Commissioner Kishan, Chief Engineer Suresh, Additional Commissioner (Health and Sanitation) N. Ravi Kiran and other senior officials participated in the visit. (INN)
