GHMC to add 55 more signals in the city

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is planning to provide more convenience to the citizens of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad for free flow of traffic by adding 55 more fleets to the existing signals.

GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar, Special Commissioner Navin Mittal, Additional Commissioners (Traffic, Hyderabad) Jeethender, Additional Commissioner (Cyberabad) Avinash Mohanthy and officials of Bharat Electronics Ltd., along with GHMC senior officials held a review meeting today on traffic issues.

In the GHMC jurisdiction, under BEL guidance, nearly 221 traffic signals are already been provided in which some of the traffic signals have been removed temporarily due to Hyderabad Metro Rail works. The Traffic Police and GHMC are planning to provide 10 traffic signals which are removed will be provided in the needy identified places.

Somesh Kumar said that the GHMC will coordinate with the Superintendent of Police of Medak District to get the proposals for providing traffic signals in Patancheru and Ramachandrapuram. To know and having an idea of the working of the signaling system the Commissioner desired that a command control room be arranged at GHMC Head Office.

The existing traffic signal working system will be inspected jointly by the Traffic, GHMC and BEL authorities shortly for effective implementation of the Traffic Signaling system the Commissioner requested the BEL authorities to play a vital role to take up the system on priority. (INN)
