Get Central approvals for projects: Harish tells officials

Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today directed the officials concerned to make efforts to get arrears, approvals and permissions for various projects.

At a high-level review meeting at Secretariat on “Pradhan Manthri Krishi Sinchai Yojana” here on Saturday, the minister asked the officials to take TRS MPs’ cooperation to get the arrears from the Centre towards Devadula project Rs 59.5 crore for 2014-15, Rs 112 cr for 2015-16.

Irrigation secretary SK Joshi informed that the Centre allocated Rs 50,000 crore to be spent over four years under the scheme for irrigation projects. Of this, Rs 5000 crore allocated for 2015, including Rs 1500 crore to construct structures for water storage, checkdam, contour bunds, watershed management, Rs 2000 crore for AIBP works and field channels construction, Rs 1800 crore for water harvesting structures. They also informed that they prepared a plan to implement the scheme and Agriculture department was asked to be a nodal agency to implement a pilot project in Warangal, Nalgonda and Adilabad districts.

Harish Rao directed the officials to get Central clearances for SRSP flood canal and Komaram Bheem project. The officials said the CWC approved 182 works worth Rs 125 crore under Mission Kakatiya first phase and the same file was sent to the Irrigation department for approval. Harish Rao also asked them to get approvals for second phase of 150 works under Mission Kakatiya from the Centre. (NSS)
