Geeta Reddy assures to raise issue of 12% Muslim reservations in assembly

Congress will raise the issue of 12% reservations to Muslims promised by the government in the assembly. Deputy floor leader Telangana Legislative Assembly Dr. J Geeta Reddy assured Muslims of Zaheerabad that Congress would seriously mount pressure on government to fulfil the promise made by TRS in its election manifesto regarding 12 % reservations to Muslim.

The Muslim Empowerment Movement initiated by Siasat is gaining momentum and leaders of political parties, besides various sections of society are expressing seriousness over mounting pressure on the government. With hundreds of representations so far the movement is heading to reach the house. Not only this, various organisations and parties have also announced to stage protest dharnas in the city demanding 12 percent reservations.

A delegation of Congress Minority Cell Zaheerabad called on Deputy Floor Leader of Congress Dr. J Geeta Reddy and submitted a memorandum in connection with 12% Muslim reservations. The memorandum stated that Muslims were backward in all the fields hence measures should be taken to provide them developmental opportunities by providing them reservations. Dr Geeta Reddy assured that she would raise the issue in the house. She welcomed the movement launched by Siasat to achieve reservations and said that the movement launched by Mr. Zahed Ali Khan to get rid of backwardness was the need of the hour. She maintained that it was necessary to prove their backwardness and for this purpose reports prepared by various commissions and committees can be used as the basis.

Present on the occasion were Mohammed Jahangir president Youth Congress Syed Afsar Pasha Quadri, S Abdur Rahman, Mohammed Aqueel Ahmed, Raheem Ghouri, K Narsimhulu and others.

Meanwhile Muslims of Gadwal announced protest demonstration on September 29 in Hyderabad.
