Telangana Government today agreed to go as usual to immerse Ganesh idols at Hussain Sagar Lake and other lakes followed by an 11-day festival that begins on Sept 17 and culminates on Sept 27.
Home Minister N Narsimha Reddy today told media persons at Secretariat here that the 11 days of Ganesh festivities will be conducted as usual and idol immersion will be done at Hussain Sagar lake as alternative lake as it was thought was yet to get ready. Earlier he held a review meeting on Ganesh festival along with Ganesh Utsav Samithi leaders attended by Ministers Mahamood Ali, Srinivas Yadav, Padma Rao Goud, Mahender Reddy and Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma and police officials. The Government will make all out arrangements for peaceful conduct of the festivities he said. He said that the departments concerned were asked to provide water and power facilities at the pandals besides providing improved security using surveillance cameras to thwart any untoward incident. He appealed to the people to cooperate for the smooth conduct of Ganesh festival. (NSS)
