In FIR, Ahmedabad police branded Muslim area as ‘Pakistan’

Ahmedabad: Rakhial police in Ahmedabad has registered a FIR against individuals who were involved in a fight and mentioned them as residents of ‘Vatva, Pakistan’.

The two accused involved were identified as in a brawl Bablu Azizbhai and Faizan Azizbhai.

According to report published in DNA News, It is common in communally polarized city of Ahmedabad where a Muslim-populated area is referred as Pakistan and small roads are termed as ‘Wagah border’ and Hindu populated areas are called ‘India’.

Rakhial Police Inspector Barkat Ali Chavda said, “The writer wrote Pakistan as the address in FIR because it was dictated to us by the city control room. This is quite normal here. Those who live there also identify themselves as residents of Pakistan”.

The situation is very much like that of Nallasopara in Thane where around 500-odd Muslim families reported that they have been getting electricity bills which mentions their address as ‘Chota’ or ‘Little Pakistan’, TOI reported.

Likewise, the largest Muslim ghetto at Juhapura is commonly called ‘Mini Pakistan’ that shares a ‘Wagah border’ with Vejalpur which is a Hindu dominated area.
