FICCI to host seminar on ‘Safe and Smart Cities’

New Delhi, Aug.24 : The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) with the support of the Telangana State Police and IPS (Central) Association will be hosting a conference on “Homeland Security 2015 – Safe and Smart Cities” on Tuesday.

P. Bhattacharya, Chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs, will address the inaugural session at Federation House.

Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar, Additional Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), will deliver the plenary keynote address at 11:15 AM

Sudhir Krishna, Chairman, BIS Smart Cities Sectional Committee and Former Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development, V. Vumlunmang, Joint Secretary (PM), Ministry of Home Affairs, Anurag Sharma, DGP, Telangana Police, Navdeep Singh Virk, Commissioner of Police, Gurgaon Police, Taj Hassan, Special Commissioner of Police, Neeraj Sinha, ADGP (Training), Jharkhand Police, Rohit Choudhary, ADGP, Punjab Police, Dr. K. R. Murali Mohan, Head – Big Data Initiative, DST, Sanjay Sahay, ADGP, Karnataka State Police, Sandeep Mittal, DIG, NICFS, Ministry of Home Affairs, Dr. O.P. Mishra, DCP – Operations and Communications, Sunil Kumar Mehrotra, ADGP (PM and W), Rajasthan Police and Dalpat Singh Dinkar, ADGP (Tand T), Rajasthan Police will be among the participants.

A FICCI – EY Report “SMART Policing for Smart Cities” will also be released during the conference.

The FICCI has identified homeland security as one of the focus areas and is working on various issues like police modernisation, security guidelines and standards, capacity building programmes, issues in the public procurement policy etc.

The conference will bring together experts from government, enforcement agencies and industry to discuss and debate security issues for the cities that will soon become smart, fair use of technology and issues of capacity building etc. (ANI)
