Fake Notes With Rs 25.43 Lakh Face Value Recovered, One Held in Bihar

Patna: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) sleuths have seized fake notes with face value of Rs 25.43 lakh and arrested one person from Bihar’s East Champaran district in connection with it.

Acting on a tip off, the DRI sleuths raided the office of a courier service at Raxaul and seized a consignment containing 51 bundles of notes with face value of Rs 25.43 lakh, a DRI official said.

They also arrested the consignee Ali Akhtar Ansari, a native of Singraulia village under Ghorasahah police station area of the district, when he came to claim the packet yesterday, the official said.

The said consignment of FICN was sent from Dubai to Delhi by a courier company and arrived at Raxaul by a courier from Gati on September 24.

The counterfeit notes were in denomination of Rs 500, the official said, adding, 28-year-old Ansari has been booked under the Customs Act and sent to jail.
