Fadnavis meets Gadkari over Gadchiroli mining proposal

New Delhi, Aug. 27 : Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to discuss mining proposals for Gadchiroli District.

“There is lot of natural resources in the district and people have demanded industries for the place so that it serves as an employment hub for Adivasis,” Fadnavis said.

He said the Maharashtra Government is also in collaboration with the Centre to develop a skill development hub for the youth of the area.

“We don’t want only mining to take place there, but also want to generate employment,” he added.

“Seventy-five to eighty percent of minerals lie in Gadchiroli District, but due to the absence of industries, the tribals remain unemployed,” said Gadkari.

Gadkari also pointed out that his party triumphed in the general and state assembly elections in these areas and people expected their unemployment woes to end. (ANI)
