Enhanced southwest monsoon to bring good rains, says IMD

New Delhi: Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that an enhanced activity of the southwest monsoon will bring good rainfall in several parts of the country for the next three-four days which can give breather to many regions reeling under severe water deficiency.

IMD Director General Laxman Singh Rathore said that there is a circulation in both the sides of the country.

He said there is a low pressure area over north Gujarat and Rajasthan and another low pressure area in Jharkhand and adjoining areas of Gangetic West Bengal and Bihar.

He further said it will bring a good amount of rainfall till September 23rd.

Rathore said the fresh round of enhanced activity of monsoon has also stopped the withdrawal of monsoon for a short period.

He said good rainfall activity will continue until September 23, but the monsoon will start withdrawing rapidly from several parts thereafter.

The MeT department has predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places over sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, isolated places in Assam and Meghalaya, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana and Rajasthan today. (ANI)
