England sets target of 138 for Australia to win series

Manchester: Inspired bowling performances by Australian seamers Mitchell Marsh and John Hastings scuttled the English batting line-up in the fifth ODI of the five match series at Old Trafford in Manchester on Sunday.

England was all out for just 138 in 33 overs in the series deciding ODI against Australia, with Ben Stokes’ 42 being the top score.

Englands’ decision to bat first after winning the toss backfired when the Aussie new ball bowlers, Mitchell Starc and John Hastings, sent the top three English batsmen back to the pavilion within first ten overs.

England could not recover from the initial setback as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Tail-ender Adil Rashid tried to wage a lone battle down the order by scoring 35 off 45 balls, but he did not get enough support from the other end.

It looks like a cake walk for Australia to go ahead and win the series, but all depends on how the English bowl on this track which has a bit in it for the seamers. (ANI)
