England cruise past Australia in fourth Test to reclaim Ashes

London, Aug 08 : England have regained the Ashes series after claiming an emphatic innings and 78-run win over Australia on the third day of the fourth Test at a jubilant Trent Bridge.

The hosts took the remaining three wickets with ease to take an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series.

All rounder Ben Stokes dismissed Mitchell Starc for a duck to return with figures of 6-36 before Mark Wood swept aside tail enders.

Adam Voges remained unbeaten on 51 as Australia were bowled out for 253 in their second innings.

Earlier, the tourists were bundled out for a paltry 60 in their first innings as fast bowler Stuart Broad wreaked havoc on Australian batsmen to claim career-best figures of 8-15.

England then capitalised on Joe Root’s century (130) before declaring their first innings on 391-9 to give a commanding lead.

The win also marked a remarkable turnaround for England from the 5-0 hammering they endured in Australia 18 months ago.

England have now beaten Australia in four consecutive home series. (ANI)
