Employee of police department commit suicide in UP

Ghaziabad: Upset over his inability to repay a loan he had taken, a 27-year-old employee of police department allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his house in defense colony of Muradnagar this morning, police said.

SHO Ummed Yadav said that Himanshu, posted at Meerut police lines, was living here with his wife, daughter, and parents.

He came back after taking a stroll and reached his room at the third floor. After sometime, his mother Saroj went upstairs and discovered that Himanshu was hanging from the ceiling fan, he said.

He was then taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, the SHO said.

He further said that preliminary investigations reveal that Himanshu was reeling under depression due to his indebtedness. He had borrowed Rs 7.5 lakh from one Kuldeep.

The money lender and his family were allegedly mounting pressure on Himanshu for recovery of their money along with interest.

An FIR has been registered against Ritu, Geeta, Ankit and Kuldeep for abetting suicide and the accused will be arrested soon, the SHO added
