Education, job satisfaction will help reduce intolerance: Ratan Tata

Mumbai, Dec.6 : Former chairman of the Tata Group, Ratan Tata, on Sunday said India believes in living in peace and harmony and added that only education and job satisfaction can help in reducing intolerance around the world.

“I don’t want to get involved in the tolerance debate. I had said before that our country believes in harmony. We have to live together and continue to do so and not contribute to the intolerance that is growing in the world around us,” Tata said.

“Education, job satisfaction are all which will help in reducing intolerance as it will be replaced by knowledge and rationality,” he added.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had earlier this week assured the Lok Sabha that the government would not spare anyone trying to disrupt social and religious harmony in the country.

Describing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “victim of maximum intolerance”, Singh had wrapped up the two-day discussion in the House on intolerance by extending an olive branch to writers, artists and scientists who have returned their awards in protest over what they called growing acts of intolerance.

Recently, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan was also under the eye of a storm over his comments about growing intolerance in the country. Under sharp criticism, he clarified later that neither he nor his wife Kiran has any intention of leaving the country as he is proud to be an Indian. (ANI)
