Dy CM selects 1,000 auto-rickshaw beneficiaries

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali has selected a thousand Auto Drivers as beneficiaries through Draw of Lots on Tuesday at Haj House in Nampally and assured that orders would be issued very soon for allotment of Autos to the remaining over 700 applicants.

He said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao would distribute the autos to the beneficiaries very soon. He advised the auto drivers to adopt thriftiness and save money earned through hard labour for the welfare of the family.

The Deputy CM further said that the cost of the autos which was Rs. 1.60 lakhs was bargained at Rs. 1.40 lakhs with 50% subsidy, providing direct benefits to the auto drivers. He said that the State Government would sanction 4,500 autos to the nine districts at the rate of 500 autos per district. He said that the Telangana has initiated amazing schemes for the welfare and development of the minorities in the State including Shaadi Mubarak, in which the target of 20,000 marriages in a year was surpassed and 21,800 marriages were performed during this year and the government planned to perform one lakh marriages in five years. Over Seas Educational Schemes etc. apart from other general schemes such as Food Security Scheme, and waiver of electricity and water supply bills to the tune of Rs.418 crores.

Nampally MLA Jaffer Hussain Meraj congratulated the auto drivers and advised them not to waste the amount they earn and not to waste the opportunity they were getting. He said that very soon the remaining 700 applicants would also get autos.

Telangana State Minorities Finance Corporation Managing Director B. Shafiullah welcomed the guests and gathering and said that in the 1,000 auto drivers being selected 992 belong to Muslim community, seven to Christians and one Sikh beneficiary. The Muslim applicants who outnumbered the quota would be selected through draw of lots. TSMFC General Manager Syed Vilayat Hussain conducted the proceedings and proposed a vote of thanks.

Minorities Welfare Department Secretary Syed Omer Jaleel, MWD Director Mohammed Jalaluddin Akber, Telangana Haj Committee Special Officer Prof. S. A. Shukoor, Joint Commissioner Transport Raghunath and RTO Dasrath RTO and others participated in the meeting. A large number of applicant auto drivers attended the meeting. (INN)
