DUSU Polls: AAP’s student wing declares candidates

New Delhi: Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS), the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) student wing, on Sunday announced the names of its candidates for the Delhi University Students Union polls to be held next month.

The debutant CYSS has fielded Garima Rana, Rahul Raj Aryan, Kuldeep Bidhuri and Hitanshi Chauhan for the September 11 Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) polls.

The CYSS, however, did not announce the specific posts for which the four candidates would contest.

While Rana and Aryan are from Hindu College, Bidhuri and Chauhan are students of PGDAV (Morning) College and Satyavati College (Morning), respectively.

“With early announcement of the panel, we get an early-bird advantage. Our candidates will get enough time to interact with students and tell them about what CYSS stands for,” CYSS president Anupam Kumar said.

“Students in the campus are fed up with stereotyped high decibel campaign and they are looking for a change,” he added.

So far, it has been largely a two-way contest between the Congress-affiliated National Students Union of India and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the student wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, all these years.
