DS takes charge, to strive to resolve inter-State issues

Newly joined TRS leader Dharmapuri Srinivas, who has been appointed Special Advisor to Telangana government, today declared he would make untiring efforts to resolve pending inter-State issues by maintaining cordial relations with neighbouring States of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra. “Every problem or issue between the States will be resolved only through discussion in a conducive atmosphere”, he remarked.

Addressing a maiden media conference after taking charge as Special Advisor to Telangana Government at Secretariat here on Friday morning, Srinivas said his priority was to resolve the pending issues such as bifurcation of High Court, officials and assets between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. “I will focus on addressing irrigation issues with these three States”, he said. He also criticized AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for not coming forward for a dialogue on irrigation disputes being created by him. “Though he claims himself as a visionary, I could not understand why Naidu was reluctant to find a solution to the common problems”, he deplored.

“There are irrigation problems with Karnataka and Maharashtra States too. I will focus on them for an amicable solution. We need to focus on irrigation projects, waters, power and others with the neighbouring States”, he stated. “Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has offered me this post with a great hope of focusing on the issues that are pending and that would crop up in future. I will work up to his satisfaction and vie for speedy solution to the issues”, Srinivas stated.

Telangana State was achieved after a protracted struggle of six decades and the perennial problems should be addressed by sitting across the table, Srinivas maintained. He exuded confidence that he could help resolve the issues legally as KCR expecting. (NSS)
