Don’t sell illegally imported fire crackers: DGP

Telangana Director General of Police Anurag Sharma has directed that all premises which sell only Indian fire crackers have to be duly authorized or licensed under the Rule 84 of the Explosives Act of 2008 by he District Magistrate ( District collector) who may issue temporary licenses for possession and sale of fire crackers.

Following an advice from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, the DGP said that some devious elements were engaged in import and sale of illegal firecrackers, particularly from China and circumventing the Explosives Act .In case any imported fire crackers are noticed in licensed premises the jurisdiction Customs authorities in the State would be informed for further penal action .Import of fire crackers is’ Restricted in texture of foreign trade policy and is allowed only against as import license is issued by the Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). The DGST has not issued any license in this regard so far to any Importer. Besides harming domestic industry, some of the imported fireworks may not meet safety standards.

He urged the police personnel in all districts to monitor the licensed shops to prevent any illegal sale of imported fire crackers and also detect and seize them, with information to the local commissioner of Customs. (INN)
