Doctor succumbs to mysterious burn injuries

New Delhi: A 40-year-old doctor has died due to burn injuries he received under mysterious circumstances at his clinic last week in south-west Dwarka sub city, police said.

The incident came to light on last Saturday when the neighbours of the doctor heard his cries of help and rushed to the clinic and found its door locked. They broke open the door and found the doctor with burn injuries lying in a hall of the clinic, said a police officer.

“The neighbours rushed him to a hospital where he was treated for over 70 percent injuries. He was later shifted to Safdarjung Hospital where he died on last evening,” the officer said.

An inquest has been started to ascertain the conditions in which he died as there were certain mysterious things related with the death of the doctor, he said.

Preliminary enquiry by police hinted that the doctor perhaps used gas burner for preparing tea and forgot to light it after opening the nob leading to fire. However, no damage was caused due to fire inside the clinic.

The digital video recorders of the CCTV cameras installed in the clinic premises were also found missing even as family members of the deceased have suspected foul play, added the officer.
