Dengue, malaria cases rise in Rajasthan, separate OPDs set up

Jaipur: With the number of dengue cases in Rajasthan touching 1,931, and that of malaria hitting 7,350, the government on Monday decided to have separate out-patient departments (OPDs) in all government hospitals for patients showing symptoms of the two diseases.
“These OPDs will be functional in all district hospitals and those in state-run medical colleges,” an official of the medical and health department told IANS.
Provision of separate wards has also been made in hospitals.
“As per our reports, the total number of positive dengue cases across the state has touched 1,931 and over 7,350 cases of malaria have been reported till now,” he said.
The maximum dengue cases have come from Kota district.
The state government has decided to undertake extensive fogging in areas most affected by dengue or malaria, the official said.
With reports of swine flu also coming in from some neighbouring states, the state government earlier decided to cancel leaves of government doctors.
The government has also decided to start screening of patients showing symptoms similar to swine flu.
For providing early relief to patients suffering from these diseases, a rapid response team is also being set up. In case of any outbreak of a disease in a particular area, the team of doctors would be rushed there.
