Democracy has won: Congress

Describing the Congress party candidates’ win as a win in democratic manner, TPCC Chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy has said that the Congress party won two MLC seats though the ruling TRS party indulged in low-level politics by resorting to black-mailing politics, misusing power, threatening the public representatives, buying the public representatives like domestic animals in the market, making the politics as business and followed undemocratic ways in the elections.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Wednesday, Uttam alleged that the TRS party government concentrated only for selfish politics but never concentrated on State’s interests. The TRS party introduced venomous culture in politics keeping the public interest aside and it was not happened anywhere in the country.

He alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao hatched a political conspiracy to cut the Opposition parties to size and for this the Chief Minister kept the Constitution aside and indulged in anti-traditional policies as he wished. He also said the Congress party has won the election in Nalgonda with 193-vote majority though the ruling TRS party spent huge money and hatched several plans. He said that the Congress party candidate Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy won the election with first priority votes. He said that the Congress party won one MLC seat in Mahbubnagar where it fielded its candidate in one seat. He said that the CPI candidate has lost the election by mere 31 votes in Khammam district where the Congress party extended its support to the CPI candidate Puvvada Nageshwara Rao. He asked the democrats to understand as to how the TRS, which has only four local bodies seats in Khammam district, has got 313 votes.

In Mahbubnagar, the Congress party candidate has got 379 votes and won the election. He said that the win in two seats was showing the sincerity of the Congress party leaders. The Congress party leaders worked sincerely without succumbing to the threatening of the ruling party, he praised and thanked the leaders and cadre for working for the sake of party. He exuded confidence that the Congress party will continue its winning streak in the coming elections and said that the result will be in this manner only if the political parties behaved in this manner thinking that they have power. The undemocratic politics of the ruling party reached to peak level in Ranga Reddy where they have no majority votes but won two MLC seats, he alleged. He said that the people were observing everything and they will teach a fitting lesson in a perfect time. He also alleged that the YSRCP was working as an agent of the ruling TRS party and it was proved in Khammam district with the win of TRS party candidate Balasani Laxmi Narayana.

Uttam further said that they will adopt ‘select and elect’ system in the ensuing Greater Elections in selecting the candidates. The party workers of the divisions concerned will select their candidates, who have winning chances more. He said that the leaders have to get ready for the Greater Elections and stated that the people were observing the ruling party misuse of power, fake assurances and they were ready to teach a fitting lesson to the ruling party.
