New Delhi: The Delhi police arrested a suspected terrorist linked to Al Qaeda on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, two jihadists had been arrested in the capital after the police received leads that the two were planning attacks during Christmas and New Year, the Press Trust of India reported.

The Al Qaeda suspect, identified as a 41-year-old named Asif, hails from Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh, as per reports. The two jihadists arrested on Tuesday had reportedly received training from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Last month, several cities, including Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru were put on high alert after intelligence agencies warned of terror threats from Al Qaeda.
