Delhi CM, ministers to come under the ambit of odd-even scheme

New Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his cabinet colleague will come under the ambit of odd- even scheme of plying of vehicles in the national capital while the Delhi government will leave the decision of Union ministers joining the scheme at the Centre’s discretion.

“All Delhi ministers, including the Chief Minister and officers will come under odd-even formula, but the state government may leave inclusion of the central ministers in the scheme at their discretion,” a Delhi government official said.

The odd-even scheme will restrict plying of vehicles on alternate days from January 1.

The official said that the after finalising the blueprint of the scheme, government will send it to the Centre for its suggestions.

“We will send the final draft of odd-even formula to the Centre. If central government wants the Union Ministers to come under ambit of the scheme, they would then be included in the scheme,” the official said.

Arvind Kejriwal government, however, is yet to take a decision on exempting women driving alone or in the company of other women, from the restrictions of the odd-even traffic formula.

Yesterday, Kejriwal had met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and sought the Centre’s cooperation on implementation of odd-even scheme for plying of private vehicles in the national capital.
