Delhi CM Kejriwal first to register for Delhi Half Marathon

New Delhi :Delhi Chief Minister filled the first application form as registration for the eighth edition of the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon, began today.

“We assure all support to the event to make it a success. I am the first person to register for the race and I would urge people to come in great numbers,” said Kejriwal, who is chief patron of the event, scheduled for November 29.

Bollywood actress and ‘Face of the Event’ Bipasha Basu exhorted the women to participate in big numbers.

“Women participation is increasing every year and I hope lots of women will come out and join the race this year also,” she said at the official launch of the registration drive.

The winners of the 21.097 km half marathon, both men and women, will be richer by USD 27,000 each while best Indian finisher will bag a prize purse of Rs 3 lakh.

Applicants can register online for the USD 270,000 race till October 30.

Procam International, promoters of the event said the organisers are expecting participation from more than 30,000 race enthusiasts along with world’s best long-distance professional athletes.

The event also includes Great Delhi Run for amateurs, Champions With Disability (CWD), DHL Corporate Champions race for teams from corporate field and Senior Citizens’ Run.

The entry fee has been kept as Rs 1400 for Half Marathon and Rs 600, 300 and 250 for Great Delhi Run, Senior Citizens’ Run and Champions With Disability categories respectively.
