Delhi BJP chief meets 3 mayors, seeks ‘corruption-free’ MCD

New Delhi: Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay held a meeting with the mayors of the three party-ruled municipal corporations with a view to making the city “garbage -free” and the civic bodies “corruption-free”.

The erstwhile unified Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) was trifurcated in 2012 into North, South and East Corporations, or NDMC, SDMC and EDMC. The civic administration in Delhi has been headed by BJP for the last seven years.

The three mayors — Ravinder Gupta (NDMC), Subhash Arya (SDMC) and Harsh Malhotra (EDMC) — met Upadhyay yesterday to discuss pro-governance and people’s development issues.

“We had a good meeting for about an hour or so and people’s welfare was our main agenda. The roadmap that came out of it was to make the civic bodies corruption-free and our city garbage-free. We want to keep both clean,” Gupta today said.

The three municipal corporations have been at loggerheads with the AAP-led Delhi government over release of funds while sanitation workers, too, have been engaged in stirs in the last few months on the issue of salary arrears.
