Daylight robbers fire in air in Jubilee Hills, L&T worker hurt

A gang of three inter-State robbers this afternoon created commotion and panic by firing in air near Neeru’s showroom in Jubilee Hills on Road No 36 while trying to escape from the hounding City Task Force personnel. However, one of the cartridges fired by the miscreants, pierced through thoracic region of an L&T worker Dharmendar Singh. The locals rushed the injured to a hospital nearby.

According to police, on a tip-off about the gang’s plans to rob a cash collecting vehicle, a city task force police team was waiting at the spot to catch the gangsters red-handed. On being caught by the Inspector , one of the gang members, identified as Faheem alias Abdul, pulled out a weapon and fired in air to scare away the police personnel. However, a cartridge hit an L&T worker nearby. Police said two of the gangsters belonged to Hyderabad while another hailed from Bengaluru in Karnataka.

It is leant that the suspected inter-State gang sneaked into the city five days ago with an intention to carryout a bank robbery. The city task force personnel, who already had a tip off about the presence of the gang, were on the hunt for the gang at different places in the city. This afternoon, they received information about the presence of gang at Road no. 36 Jubilee Hills. As they tried to pin down one of the gang members, he pulled out his revolver and opened two rounds of fire in the air, in an apparent bid to escape. The criminal was overpowered after which the police drove him away. The incident sent shockwaves in the locality, where several high-end stores and Jubilee Hills police station are located. (NSS)
