Dalit family set on fire in Faridabad, minors succumbed to burn injuries

Faridabad: In a shocking incident of inter-caste violence, 9-month-old baby boy and two-and-half-year-old girl child burnt alive and their parent’s conditions continues to remain critical as a result of alleged revenge attack.

The incident took place at around 3 am in Faridabad district of Haryana when some members of the Rajput community allegedly threw petrol on their home and set it ablaze.

The resultant fire charred two kids, while the parents sustained severe burn injuries. The attack has triggered tension in the Sunped village of Ballabgarh area of Faridabad.

Officials suspect the attack to be fallout of 11 people being detained for a murder in the same area. “Those who were victims in last year’s case are the accused in today’s case. The victims in today’s case named the accused and we registered a case against them,” said Subhash Yadav, told the Hindustan Times.

An FIR has been registered under provisions of the IPC and the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the police are on the lookout for suspects.
