Dadri killing- Incident being ‘excessively politicised’: Kiren Rijiju

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday said the lynching of a man over alleged eating of beef in Dadri was being “excessively politicised” and government will take action once it gets the report from Uttar Pradesh on the incident. “Excessive politics is being done on the issue. Once, we get the report we will take action accordingly,” the Minister of State for Home told reporters on sidelines of an event here.

The Centre had on Thursday sought a detailed report from Uttar Pradesh government over the incident and asked it to ensure that no such incident recurs. In a communication, the Home Ministry had told the state government that a report about lynching of the 50-year-old man should be sent to it as early as possible and the steps taken to find the guilty and punish them.

Iqlakh was beaten to death and his 22-year-old son Danish was critically injured by a 200-strong mob which barged into their house at Dadri in Greater Noida on Monday night following rumours that the family had consumed beef. Cow slaughter is banned in Uttar Pradesh.
