DA case hearing against Amma adjourned till Jan. 8

Bangaluru: The hearing on Karnataka Government’s appeal against the High Court verdict acquitting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa in the Disproportionate Assets (DA) case has been adjourned till January 8.

The Chief Minister had been charged with amassing assets worth Rs. 66 crore disproportionate to her income during the 90s.

The Karnataka High Court had acquitted Jayalalithaa of all the charges in May, paving way for her return as the Chief Minister following a three-week incarceration in jail.

The High Court had said her illegal wealth comprised only eight percent of her known sources of income, well within the permissible limit of 10 percent.

The Karnataka Government had moved the top court on June 23, calling her acquittal ‘a farce’. (ANI)
