Congress taunts ‘serious’ Kejriwal’s odd-even car formula

New Delhi, Dec. 6 : Taking a jibe at Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal over his odd-even car formula, the Congress on Sunday said only time would reveal the former’s seriousness with the plan.

“We do not know how much serious he is with odd and even numbers. He has passed a ‘governmental’ Lokpal, which has no meaning. Only time will tell how much serious he is with this odd and even,” Congress leader Ajay Maken told the media here.

“Kejriwal ji has taken a U-turn on whatever he had said. He had said that he would take Rs. 25,000 honorarium and won’t go beyond that. Today his salary has started from Rs. 2, 35,000 and it will go up to Rs. 4, 20, 000,” he added.

Maken further said, “He had said he won’t do politics, but made a political party and did politics. He had said he will live in a normal house, but stays in a four-acre house. So whatever he says, he does exactly the opposite,” he added.

Kejriwal had on Saturday said that the plan to allow odd and even numbered vehicles on alternate days on Delhi roads from January 1 was an ‘experiment’ to deal with the ’emergency situation’ in the city.

He said it could be discontinued if people faced problems.

The odd-even formula was among a series of measures announced at a meeting chaired by Kejriwal on Friday after the National Green Tribunal pulled up the Delhi Government for failing to curb air pollution.

The Delhi High Court had also said earlier this week that living in the city was like “living in a gas chamber”. (ANI)
