Congress steps up attack on Modi post Shotgun’s fresh salvos

New Delhi, Nov. 18 : The Congress on Wednesday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would gradually be reduced to half if the party leadership starts taking responsibility for the humiliating defeat in the recently held Bihar Assembly polls.

Congress leader Tom Vadakkan, who was reacting to Patna Sahib MP Shatrughan Sinha’s criticism of the BJP top brass for the debacle in Bihar, used the occasion to take potshots at Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Whom all will they hold responsible for the Bihar debacle? The Prime Minister addressed more than 25 rallies, Amit Shah ji held 30-40 rallies. The people of Bihar have given them answer. There will be meltdown in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) if they start taking responsibilities,” Vadakkan told ANI.

Congress leader Shakeel Ahmad echoing similar sentiments said the actor-politician is upset with Prime Minister Modi as all the responsibilities of the Bihar elections was given to party president Amit Shah.

“He (Shatrughan Sinha) considers Modi ji responsible for the Bihar debacle and wants introspection for the defeat. Shatrughan Sinha is upset with Modi ji as all the responsibilities of the Bihar elections was given to Amit Shah,” Ahmad told ANI.

Sinha on Wednesday demanded an explanation from those ‘responsible’ for the Bihar debacle and said they were answerable to the ‘real stalwarts’ of BJP.

“Those responsible for the debacle must answer what, why, where & how it all happened. They must satisfy the real stalwarts/veterans of BJP. It’s just bravado of the ill advised to talk of action. The time is for reaction, understanding, apology and satisfaction of party godfathers,” Sinha tweeted.

He accused the BJP leadership of having ‘vested interests’ while stubbornly refusing to learn any lesson from the thumping loss in the Bihar Assembly elections.

“Some vested interests are still at it…refusing to learn any lessons, still working on creating misunderstandings through misinformation,” he added.

Sinha has been openly sulking about him not being a part of the BJP campaign in Bihar and has taken potshots at the party leadership, saying ‘Bihari Babu’ (referring to himself), whom the people of Patna sent to the Parliament had deliberately been kept out of the campaign.

Sinha has also been publicly praising Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the grand alliance’s splendid win in Bihar, bringing further embarrassment to the BJP. (ANI)
