Congress slams Musharraf for calling Osama a hero

New Delhi, Oct. 28 : The Congress Party on Wednesday criticised Pervez Musharraf for describing Osama Bin Laden as a hero, saying the United States and United Nations should take note of the former Pakistan president’s remark.

Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit dubbed Musharraf’s remark to be a ‘pathetic comment’.

“Bin Laden and Zawahiri were international criminals, they are the people who have done crimes against humanity. Anybody who says that they are heroes of them and their nation, it is a pathetic comment. Musharraf has lost the plot. If these people are his heroes then he should be tried for war crimes and crime against humanity. I hope the UN and US takes note of it,” he said.

Congress leader Randeep Surjewala on his part said that Musharraf’s remarks prove that Pakistan supports terrorism.

“Pakistan’s former president Pervez Musharraf’s statement, their former defence minister’s statement and the statements by their former army chiefs makes it clear that Pakistan is a nation that supports terrorism. Pakistan exports terror to India in the form of Lashkar-e-Taiba,” he said.

During an interview to Duniya TV, Musharraf branded Jama’at-ud-Da’wah chief Hafiz Saeed and LeT leader Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi as Pakistani ‘heroes’ during their alleged freedom struggle in Kashmir.

Musharraf also branded Osama Bin Laden, Jalaluddin Haqqani, Hafiz Saeed and Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi as Pakistan’s heroes during the 1980s. (ANI)
