Congress protest over discontinuing Indira, Rajiv postal stamps

Lucknow :Uttar Pradesh Congress today staged state-wide protest against Central government move to discontinue commemorative postal stamps of former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.

On the call of the UPCC president Nirmal Khatri, district and city units of the party staged demonstrations all over the state to observe “virodh diwas” against the decision to discontinue the stamps , a UPCC release issued here said.

Partymen demanded the central government to immediately review its decision, the release said.

In Lucknow, city unit president Bodhlal Shukla and district president Gaurav Chaudhary led the protest demonstration at the GPO park here.

Reports of similar agitations being held at Badaun, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly, Ghazipur, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Barabanki, Gonda, Amethi ,Rae Bareli, Hardoi, Unnao, Hathras, Gorakhpur, Chandauli and Ballia have also come in, the release added.
