Congress to move Privilege Move against KTR

Leader of the Opposition in the Council Mohd Shabbir Ali on Friday said his party would move a Privilege Motion against Panchayat Raj Minister K. Taraka Ramarao for violation of protocol in laying foundation stones for 2BHK houses in the city on Thursday.

Showing the pictures of different ceremonies that took place on Thursday, Shabbir Ali said KTR was highlighted like a ‘de facto CM’. “KTR was given preference over Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatraya, Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali and Home and Hyderabad District Incharge Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy. “KTR is neither holding Housing nor Municipal Administration and Urban Development portfolios. Then in what capacity, KTR laid the foundation stones for the 2BHK houses?” he asked.

Ali also ridiculed KTR’s promise of constructing 10,000 units of 2BHK houses in city this year. “From where would the State Government get Rs 540 crore to construct the promised houses in just four months? The ‘gang of ministers’ had laid the foundation stones and would delay the construction citing poll notification for GHMC. They are simply cheating the poor residents of Hyderabad. KTR should also explain how the government would mobilise over Rs 8,500 crore to construct 1.08 lakh units of 2BHK houses which he promised to construct,” he asked.

Speaking on the issue, Danam Nagender said the laying of foundation stones for the housing projects without conducting a socio-economic survey and without identifying the beneficiaries was completely illegal. He said the Congress would write to the authorities concerned against the open cheating being done by the TRS leaders. He said the project would remain a non-starter and the Congress would plant saplings near all the foundation stones which were laid by KTR. (NSS)
