Congress has made a mockery of Parliament’s functioning: Modi

Kollam: Launching a blistering attack on the Congress, while addressing a gathering here, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the “Congress Party has made a mockery of Parliament’s functioning”.

“It cannot reconcile to defeat in the Lok Sabha polls, and its only programme is to hamper the development of the country,” he said.

Brushing aside President Pranab Mukherjee’s counsel for debate, dissent and decision, he said the Congress was resorting to disrupt, destruct and demolish.

The Prime Minister said, his government’s path is the “3 Ds” shown by the President and the “4th D” is for development. He said the Centre would do from its side whatever is required for Kerala’s development.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Modi unveiled a statue of former Kerala chief minister R. Sankar.

Recalling the contribution of Shankar, the Prime Minister said some people serve in positions for many years, but are not remembered, but Shankar served as chief minister for around two years but is remembered fondly.

The Prime Minister also said Sankar always walked on the path shown by Sree Narayana Guru.

Later, paying tributes to Sree Narayana Guru at his samadhi in Shivagiri Mutt in Varkala, Prime Minister Modi said Sree Narayana Guru fought casteism and other evils in society and unified all. (ANI)
