Congress leaders demand removal of Nagender as GHCC chief

Almost all leaders of Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee, Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts have unanimously demanded removal of Danam Nagender as the president of GHCC.

The Congress leaders submitted a long list of complaints against Nagender during the review meeting chaired by AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh at Gandhi Bhavan here on Thursday. According to sources, the Congress leaders accused Nagender of deliberately weakening the Congress party in the city in view of forthcoming GHMC elections. Former MLA Mary Ravindranath reportedly complained of Nagender’s proximity with TRS ministers T. Padma Rao and Talasani Srinivas Yadav.

Senior leaders including P. Sabitha Indira Reddy, Sudhir Reddy and Kayam Mallesh reportedly advised Digvijay Singh to assign the responsibility of 50 divisions in Ranga Reddy districts to the local leaders. However, Danam contended that being the president of Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee he should have all the powers to select candidates and run the campaign.

Nagender was reportedly pulled up by Digvijay Singh for not being active and for maintaining close relations with TRS leaders.

The meeting was also attended by TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Leaders of Opposition K. Jana Reddy (Assembly) and Mohammed Ali Shabbir (Council), MLC MS Prabhakar, former union minister Sarve Satyanarayana, ex-MP M. Anjan Kumar Yadav and other leaders. (INN)
