Congress holds protests in TS, AP over suspension of MPs

Massive protests were held across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh State on Tuesday in protest against the suspension of 25 Congress MPs for days from the Lok Sabha.

The Congress activists held protests at various places and also burnt the effigy of Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi. The TPCC and APCC organised joint protest at party headquarters Gandhi Bhavan at Nampally. Earlier, TPCC and APCC presidents N Uttam Kumar Reddy and N Raghuveera Reddy addressed a joint press conference to condemn the suspension of Congress MPs from the House. They alleged that the NDA Government has been trying to suppress the voice of opposition by keeping them out of the House. They said instead of taking action against the tainted ministers, the Central Government is trying to silence the opposition. They said that the Congress party would continue its agitation until the Prime Minister sack Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on the issue of Lalit Modi.

Raghuveera Reddy said that the NDA Government at the Centre and TDP Government in AP have been encouraging corruption. Speaking about ‘Cash for Vote’ case, he said CBI enquiry was essential to expose the real culprits involved in the crime. However, he said that the Central Government has not ordered a CBI enquiry too protest its ally Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Meanwhile, the Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee, led by its president D. Nagender, organised protest at Basheerbagh crossroads. Similar, protests were organised in different parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. (INN)
