Congress challenges TRS Govt for open debate on performance

The Congress party has challenged the TRS Government, especially Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, for an open debate on its performance during its 17-month rule in Telangana State.

TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy released the booklet “50 Questions on 500 Days of TRS Misrule” compiled by Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir at Gandhi Bhavan here on Thursday. MLCs Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy and Akula Lalitha were also present on the occasion.

Speaking to media persons later, Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the TRS Government has been making false claims on performance. Beginning with a U-turn on the promise of making a Dalit CM, KCR first cheated the families of Telangana martyrs by confining their numbers to 481. Similarly, the cases related to Telangana agitation were not withdrawn and hundreds of students were still facing the trail. He said KCR sacked a Dalit Deputy CM Dr. T. Rajaiah on the charges of indulging in corruption. However, he himself did not follow the suit despite being questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in ESI Hospitals’ scam.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the TRS Government also failed to fulfill major promises including 12% reservation for Muslims and STs, 2BHK houses, KG to PG free education and crop loan waiver scheme. Although KCR had promised to implement naxalites agenda, Shruti and Vidya Sagar were killed in an alleged encounter on the charges of being Maoists. He also questioned KCR’s silence on Alair encounter wherein five Muslim under trials were killed by the police in broad day light. He said that the booklet compiled by Shabbir Ali would be circulated among voters in Warangal and answers would be sought from the TRS leaders.

Shabbir Ali ridiculed KCR’s claim wherein he stated that almost 99% of the promises he made have been fulfilled. He said not even 9% of the promises were fulfilled by the TRS Government. He said that the Congress party was ready for an open debate on the issue before media, public or even TRS Bhavan. “You did nothing for the people of Telangana. KCR, his mantris and other leaders are making false statements and trying to cheat the people. A new promise is being made to divert attention from the non-implementation of old promises. Congress party will not remain a mute spectator to this cheating and we will question the TRS leaders at all places,” he said.

“The Quiz Show for TRS Government has begun. KCR will have to give only the right answers. He will lose people’s faith and confidence if he gives wrong answers or remain silent,” said Shabbir Ali while announcing that the booklet “50 Questions on 500 Days of TRS Misrule” would be circulated across the State. “People will question TRS leaders on all streets and nook and corner of the Telangana,” he said.

MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy said that this was the first set of 50 questions and many more questions on other issues would follow soon. (INN)
