Cong. MLC flays Venkaiah Naidu’s remark on Aurangzeb Road

Congress MLC Mr. Mohammed Farooq Husain flayed the remark made by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mr. Venkaiah Naidu regarding his address at Aurangzeb Road and declared it as ridiculous. He questioned Venkaiah Naidu ‘if a Muslim residing in America and Australia demands to declare India as Muslim state will it be conceded.’ Mr. Mohammed Farooq Husain claimed that it was being conspired by Hindutva forces to distort the history of the country and Muslim rulers were being presented as anti-Hindu. He asserted that Aurangzeb had done several good things but they were never highlighted. Elements having polluted minds are publicising against Muslim rulers, he said. When a road in Delhi was named after Aurangzeb no one objected but after the formation of BJP led NDA government in Delhi it rankled in the eyes of prejudiced forces especially union minister Mr. Venkaiah Naidu, he added.

Addressing a book release function union minister Venkaiah Naidu had said “…I also used to feel little shy when I had to give my address…I had to say I am living in 30 Aurangzeb Road. But now I am happy because now I am living in 30 Abdul Kalam Road”.

It must be noted that on August 28, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) gave its nod to rename Aurangzeb Road in Lutyen’s Delhi as APJ Abdul Kalam Road.
