Cong MLC demands probe into Assembly Secretary’s Australia tour

Congress MLC M.S.Prabhakar on Thursday demanded a high level probe into the alleged misuse of office and funds by Telangana Legislature Secretary S. Raja Sadaram on his recent visit to Australia.

Speaking to media persons in Assembly premises here, Prabhakar alleged that Sadaram has misled Speaker S. Madhusudan Chary and Council Chairman Swamy Goud on his official tour of Australia. Quoting information which he secured through Right to Information Act, he said Sadaram claimed he was visiting Australia on the invitation of Parliament of Australia, House of Representatives. “It is clearly mentioned in the invitation that at the request of the State Legislature, the Australian Parliament have provided a one day programme on Parliamentary practice and procedure,” he said.

“Sadaram intentionally framed the Australian tour just to meet his two sons, who are in Australia. He misled the Speaker and Chairman and went on personal tour at the cost of the Legislature Department,” he alleged.

Demanding a high-level probe, he said action should be taken against the Legislature Secretary and all expenses incurred towards the Australian tour should be recovered. He also opposed grant of extension to Sadaram, whose tenure ends on August 31. (INN)
