Committee’s decision not backed with evidence: Raj Kundra

New Delhi: Expressing disappointment over the verdict by the three-member Supreme Court appointed committee in the IPL fixing scam, Rajasthan Royals (RR) co-owner Raj Kundra on Tuesday said that the committee’s decision was not backed by any evidence on the matter.
“Today is a very depressing and sad day for me as my integrity has been questioned and my support in this investigation seems to have backfired..I have always assisted and helped the Mudgal committee from day one till now. It’s disheartening that despite there being no evidence what so ever against me, I was still deemed to be guilty,” Kundra said in a statement.

“I have not received till date a copy of their final report in which sweeping conclusions were recorded against me. Even the fact that neither the Delhi Police nor Rajasthan Police found any actionable case against me, has been used to make insinuations regarding my guilt for an act I never did. While I have great respect for Supreme Court and judicial system, unfortunately in this case I cannot but feel that I have been wronged,” he added.

In a sensational verdict, the three-member Supreme Court appointed committee headed by Justice R.M. Lodha has found Chennai Super Kings (CSK) official Gurunath Meiyappan and Raj Kundra guilty, and imposed life suspensions on the duo.

The committee also suspended Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals from participating in the IPL for a period of two years. (ANI)
