CM Secy’s office raided not Kejriwal’s: CBI

New Delhi: Refuting Arvind Kejriwal’s allegation that his office was raided, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday said that his principal secretary’s office had been searched with a clear warrant, and not the office of the Chief Minister.

“CBI has registered a case against Rajendra Kumar, Secretary to CM Delhi on the allegation of abusing his official position by favouring a particular firm in the last few years in getting tenders from Delhi government departments. After taking warrants, searches are being conducted in the office and residence of Rajendra Kumar,” the CBI said in a statement.

However, Kejriwal accused them of ‘lying’ and asserted that the CBI was looking at the files in the Chief Minister’s office.

“I am the only CM who dismissed, on my own, a minister n a senior officer on charges of corruption and handed their cases to CBI. If CBI had any evidence against Rajender, why didn’t they share it wid me? I wud hv acted against him,” Kejriwal tweeted.

Meanwhile, the government slammed Kejriwal for accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the raid on his office and said that it has become a ‘fashion’ for the Delhi Chief Minister to bicker with the Centre and blame them for everything.

“It has become a fashion for Delhi Chief Minister to quarrel with Central Government and to take Prime Minister’s name for everything. Prime Minister has nothing to do with this. There is a law, there is a Constitution and law has to take its own course,” Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu told reporters here.

Kejriwal had attacked the Prime Minister for the raid and accused him of resorting to ‘cowardice’.

“CBI raids my office…When Modi cudn’t handle me politically, he resorts to this cowardice,” he tweeted. (ANI)
