Clear pushkar traffic on war-footing dip: CM

Keeping huge influx of pilgrims for Godavari Pushkaralu in five Telangana districts due to holidays on Saturday and Sunday, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today directed the officials concerned to clear the vehicular traffic on war-footing and put in place expert swimmers 24 hours at pushkar ghats to avoid stampede.
At a high-level review meeting at the camp office, the Chief Minister asked the officials to ensure hassle-free darshan to the pilgrims after taking holy dip at the pushkar ghats. KCR directed them to organize proper queue lines at pushkar ghats and temples to avoid jostling and stampede at the pushkar ghats. He also asked them to take special measures for old aged, children and physically challenged people and help them get smooth visit of the presiding deities at the adjoining temples by following queue line norms after completing the ritual of bathing at the ghats.
KCR also asked the ministers, who are in-charges in the five districts, to provide timely services of water, health, power and toilets. He directed that cranes should be used to remove the vehicles failed on the roads due to technical problems, if any.
The Chief Minister asked the Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy and Director General of Police Anurag Sharma to rush police personnel from Hyderabad to these districts to help clear the traffic jams at toll gates connecting pushkar districts from Hyderabad, Nalognda, Ranga Reddy and other districts. Besides, the ministers, IAS and IPS officials should coordinate with other departments and make the festivities a grand success as the Pushkaralu were being held for the first time in Telangana State, he noted.
