Clash breaks out between two groups over religious conversion

A clash broke out between members of two communities here over alleged religious conversion, police said.

The incident occurred at a city hotel when a political party was holding its two-day workshop, attended by its state president. The other community was also holding a prayer meet at the same hotel, they said.

During the workshop rumour spread that the other community was carrying out conversion over which the party workers lodged protest, leading to a clash between the two groups, police said.

Later, an FIR was lodged against 150 unidentified persons by the other community claiming they were holding a prayer meeting.
