City to witness more FOBs in coming days

Soon at important places in the city where there is heavy traffic congestion, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) proposes to construct five more foot over-bridges (FOBs) with a cost of around Rs 4.04 crore.

The five proposed places include, Muffakam Jah Engineering College in Banjara Hills, National Police Academy, Shamshabad Bus Stop, Zoo Park near Bahadarpura, and IS Sadan at Santosh Nagar. The work orders to the selected agency will be issued by GHMC special officer Somesh Kumar in a day or two.

The GHMC has decided to build these FOBs after conducting an intensive survey in collaboration with IL&FS Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (IIDC) on the traffic density at these places where an increasing number of accidents are taking place and several lives being lost.

While construction work have already been initiated at Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital in Mehdipatnam and at 9MT Battery Gate near Tippu Khan Bridge in Langer Houz, the work at Greenlands Guest House, Mahaveer Hospital-JNAFAU Masab Tank and Care Hospital on Road No 1, Banjara Hills will be taken up, after the overhead power (LT) lines and other utilities are shifted to alternative places.
