The Chennai- Mangalore Express derailed near Poovanur railway station in Tiruchi Division at around 2 am today morning, leaving nearly 40 passengers injured, as per reports.
Nearly four coaches of Train No. 16859 got derailed. Railway officials have rushed to the spot and rescue and relief operations are on.
Following the train accident, all the trains heading to Chennai Egmore from Tamil Nadu have been stopped.
