Chain snatching gangs busted, 1.14kg gold ornaments seized

In an unprecedented and relentless fight against chain snatching offences, the Cyberabad Police nabbed notorious chain snatching gangs and recovered 1.14 kg of gold ornaments in 46 cases.

The Malkajgiri police arrested two chain snatching offenders and one PC, who assisted and abetted commission of five chain snatchings in Cyberabad, three cases under Malkajgiri PS, one case under Nacharam PS and one case under Medipally PS and recovered 10 tolas of gold, one Hero Honda CBZ Bike and a Nokia mobile phone with Idea Sim Card.

The accused were identified as Mohammed Ahmed, 27, a painter of Shareefnagar Colony, Borabanda, Mohammed Farooq, 35, auto driver of Madannapet and a police constable Mohan of 2005 batch of Hyderabad City Police.

Bahadurpally cop abets snatchers

Police said police constable Konduru Mohan, 31, of Hyderabad Commissionerate and resident of Bahadurpally village under Qutbullapur mandal was presently staying at Manikonda. He was recruited as a Civil Constable in 2005. While he was working as a crime constable at Narayanguda PS, he developed close contact with Farooq who was in custody of Narayanaguda PS. After remand, the PC visited the jail during “Mulakath” with Farooq and arranged bail expenditure and co-operated in his release on bail.

After release of Farooq, the police constable allegedly pestered him to commit thefts for repaying the expenditure incurred on his bail. Farooq agreed and asked the cop to get his accomplice Ahmed also released on bail. Consequently the PC met Ahmed at “Jail Mulakath” and arranged bail for him. After release on bail, the PC provided them one CBZ Bike which was an abandoned vehicle of Narayanaguda PS and also arranged one Nokia Phone with Idea Sim and encouraged them to commit Chain Snatchings.

Accordingly, the accused Farooq and Ahmed committed three snatchings in Malkajgiri PS area, one each under Nacharam PS and Medipally PS areas. The stolen property was distributed among Farooq, Ahmed and the constable.

Another notorious Irani chain snatcher Waseem Osman Sayed, 30, of Subedari Basti, Sreerampur Town, Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra was nabbed by CCS Malkajgiri Team of Cyberabad Police. The accused confessed to have committed 22 chain snatchings under Cyberabad Commissionerate limits along with Hyder Gareebshah Irani who is absconding. Both committed many chain snatchings in Pune, Shirdi, Ahmednagar, Nasik and in some places of Tamil Nadu.

Gold ornaments weighing 43.5 tolas were recovered from his possession and 22 cases — five cases under KPHB PS, four under Malkajgiri PS, two cases each in Dundigal, Chandanagar and Uppal police stations, three cases under Medipally PS, one each under Medchal, Pet Basheerabad, Kushaiguda and Jagatgirigutta Police stations.

Another chain snatching offender Dommata Ramprasad alias Ramu, 37, of Papi Reddy Colony in Chandanagar was apprehended by CCS Kukatpally Team. They recovered 60 tolas gold in 19 snatchings committed by him under the limits of Cyberabad, Hyderabad Commissionerates and Medak district.

The accused allegedly committed four snatching under Sanathnagar PS, three cases under Balanagar, two cases in Chandanagar and one case under Jagatgirigutta under Cyberabad Commissionerate, four cases in SR Nagar and five cases under Ramchandrapuram police limits of Medak district. (NSS)
