An ex-convict was given a sound thrashing and handed over to police by passersby at Kasu Brahmananda Reddi (KBR) Park at Banjara Hills for snatching a gold chain and a mobile phone from a morning walker on Wednesday.
When the ex-convict, identified as Kalapi Santhosh, attacked Naveena and left her injured after snatching her gold chain and mobile phone, the passersby, hearing her screams, chased and overpowered him and gave him a sound thrashing before handing him over to the police.
Police said six criminal cases were filed against Santosh for stealing bikes and snatching gold chains. The police said he was released only on August 31 from prison. Naveena, the victim, said Santhosh threatened to kill her if the chain was not given to him. (NSS)
